Dr. Maria L. Martinez is a highly specialized Colon and Rectal Surgeon who completed her General Surgery Residency at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio, and then went on to complete a Colon and Rectal Surgery Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, which has been ranked as the #1 hospital in the United States for Gastroenterology and Gastrointestinal Surgery for more than 10 years. After completing her training, Dr. Martinez returned to the city she calls home, San Antonio. She is fluent in both Spanish and English, making her the only bilingual, female, board certified Colon and Rectal Surgeon in San Antonio, TX. Her mission and calling is to serve her patients by providing caring, compassionate, and exceptional surgical care. Dr. Martinez is also very active in her community, volunteering with her local Red Cross as well as being an active member of her church community. When not caring for her patients or volunteering in the community, Dr. Martinez enjoys spending time with her family and her Labrador, Molly. She is also a fitness enthusiast and enjoys traveling.
