Dr. Steven Pilkington is a board certified Obstetrician Gynecologist and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology; an active member of the American Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, Texas Medical Association, and the Catholic Medical Association. Dr. Pilkington is a graduate of Texas A&M University, where he earned his degree in Biomedical Sciences. He studied within the University Honors Program and graduated Magna Cum Laude. He earned his Doctorate degree from the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine, and completed his internship and residency at St. Joseph’s Hospital, The Methodist Hospital System, and MD Anderson Cancer Center in the world renown Houston Medical Center.

He went on to the Pope Paul VI Institute for Human Reproduction in Omaha, Nebraska to learn NaProTECHNOLOGY and become a Medical Consultant for couples using Natural Family Planning (NFP)* methods either to postpone or to achieve the conception of a child.

Now in his eighteenth year of practicing medicine Dr. Pilkington provides women’s healthcare as a Natural Family Planning obstetrician gynecologist at Dignity Women’s Center. His passions include helping couples achieve pregnancy without using artificial reproductive techniques, helping women with hormonal and cycle problems without using the birth control pill, and helping women in need of surgery in a minimally invasive way. He uses natural hormones to correct the deficiencies a particular woman may have and he is a gynecologic surgeon who incorporates the newest technology to provide minimally invasive surgery. With laparoscopy and the advent of the Davinci robot, many gynecologic surgeries can now be done without requiring an overnight hospitalization. Dr. Pilkington has been performing robotic surgeries since the technology arrived in San Antonio and is among the top tier of physicians regarding the number of cases done. He Is one of very few surgeons in the country who performs delicate microsurgical tubal ligation reversal procedures for couples struggling with this infertility. His scope of practice also includes caring for women with both routine and higher risk pregnancies.
